Her Fertility privacy — from Yan and Jade

We’re Yan and Jade. We run Vitality Revival from West Bromwich in the UK. Yan built the Her Fertility app himself — from scratch. No agency. No big tech team. No “privacy committee.” Just us.

If you’re reading this, you probably care about the same thing we do: your trying / IVF / pregnancy / baby notes are nobody else’s business.

Shop stuff (orders, emails, the website) still sits under our normal Privacy Policy and Terms. This page is about the app.

We never sell your data

Never. Not to advertisers. Not to data brokers. Not to some “partner” who wants to build a profile off your miscarriage notes or your scan dates.

We’re not in the business of selling you. Full stop.

Fort Knox — what we actually mean

We call the vault Fort Knox because that’s the attitude: you hold the keys. We wear a blindfold.

On your phone first

Open the app with Face ID or a PIN — same idea as banking. Your notes get sealed on the device with AES-256-GCM. That’s not a buzzword we made up in Canva. It’s the heavy-duty lock used all over the serious internet: Apple’s world, banks, the little padlock when you pay online (HTTPS / TLS), privacy apps that actually mean it.

Cloud? Only if you ask — and it’s already locked

Optional sealed backup. The phone locks the package before it leaves. What hits our servers is a sealed blob. We can’t read it. There’s no secret “founder login” to peep at mum’s diary. There’s no staff — and even if there were, there’s still no viewer.

You keep the recovery code

Turn backup on, you get a code. Write it down. That’s how you get your diary back if you delete the app or switch phones (with your Vitality Revival sign-in). We don’t email that code to ourselves “just in case.”

Wipe means wipe

Two taps. Confirm. Gone. Not “archived for insights.” Not “kept for training.” Gone.

Sharing isn’t a free-for-all

Mum invites dad, co-parent, or nursery with a code.

• Nursery pastes the code — no shop account. Care + photos for the kids mum shared. Not her trying/IVF vault. Not Guide. Not the shop.
• Dad / co-parent get what she shared — no extra subscription for that shared bit.
• Want the whole app for yourself? Subscribe yourself. Mum paying doesn’t secretly unlock someone else’s private journey.

No cloud AI sniffing your letters

If the app reads text off a clinic letter photo, that stays on your phone. We’re not shipping your hospital letters to some chatbot in California.

What a diary note looks like vs after encryption

Made-up example — not a real mum’s note:

Before (what you typed):
Day 14. LH peak this morning. Feeling hopeful. Scan Thursday 10:30 at the John Radcliffe.

After AES-256 seal (what sits on disk / in a sealed backup without your key):

You unlock with Face ID / PIN → readable note again.
We look at our servers → still gibberish. That’s the whole point 🔐

How it works — four dumb-simple examples

1. You type a note.
Before it sits on the phone, it’s sealed with AES-256. No unlock → scrambled rubbish, not a readable sentence.

2. You keep a sealed backup.
Phone locks it first, then uploads the sealed package. Steal our disks? You get locked boxes. Not “Dear diary…”

3. Nursery joins.
They get a care-only key for what mum shared — not a master key to her whole fertility vault. Different doors, different locks.

4. You wipe.
Keys die. Leftover sealed junk becomes useless. That’s the point.

How secure are we?

We’re a fertility brand from West Bromwich, not MI5 ☕

That said… the Ministry of Defence has had some very public leaks. We haven’t had a “whoops, we published mum’s diary” day — mainly because we built it so we can’t open mum’s diary.

So on the tiny scoreboard of “did you leave the door open?” … yeah, we’re winning that one 😏

Not claiming we’re the MoD. Not claiming perfect security. Claiming: no back door, never sell your data, you can wipe us.

The servers — straight talk

Our cloud is for sealed packages, not open diaries. It refuses plaintext diary content. The little admin console we use for shop/account help can see “is there an account?” — not what’s inside your notes.

Connection’s modern HTTPS. The app pins it where we can, so dodgy café Wi‑Fi has a harder time pretending to be us. Hosted on proper cloud kit — not a laptop under the stairs.

Bottom line we care about: even a stolen sealed file should stay sealed without your keys.
